Today, I’m excited to share a recipe that’s not only delicious but also incredibly quick and packed with protein. Whether you’re looking for a post-workout treat, a healthy dessert, or a sweet breakfast option, this Protein-Packed Chocolate Chip Mug Cake is the answer. Ready in just minutes, this single-serving recipe is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth while helping you hit your health and physique goals.

Why You’ll Love My Chocolate Chip Mug Cake:

  • High Protein: Packed with over 38g of protein to fuel your day.
  • Quick & Easy: Ready in under 5 minutes for a hassle-free treat.
  • Deliciously Chocolatey: Rich chocolate flavor with gooey chocolate chips.

High-Protein & Fiber Goodness

What makes this mug cake truly special is its high protein content. It packs a whopping amount of protein, 38.3 grams to be exact, thanks to the inclusion of chocolate protein powder and an egg. This not only helps in keeping you full longer but also aids in muscle recovery and maintenance, making it a perfect post-workout snack or breakfast option. Another reason I am such a fan of this mug cake is that it is loaded with fiber- 9.6 grams! This will help with stabilizing blood sugar, again, making it a great way to start your day!

Deliciousness in Every Bite

Despite being a healthier alternative to traditional cakes, this mug cake doesn’t compromise on flavor. The combination of chocolate protein powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, and a touch of vanilla extract creates a rich and indulgent chocolatey flavor. The addition of chocolate chips creates gooey pockets of melted chocolate scattered throughout the cake.

Here are the Main Ingredients you will need for this Protein-Packed Chocolate Chip Mug Cake:

How to Make this Mug Cake Step-By-Step:

In a microwave-safe mug or dish, combine oat flour, protein powder, cocoa powder, zero-calorie sweetener, and baking powder. Mix well.

Add the egg, almond milk, vanilla extract, and sugar-free maple syrup to the dry ingredients. Stir until fully combined.

Gently fold in the chocolate chips into the batter.

Microwave on high for 60-90 seconds, or until the cake is set but still moist.

Quick and Convenient

One of the best things about this mug cake is how quick and easy it is to prepare. In less than 5 minutes, you can whip up a satisfying and nutritious treat. I know my clients, friends, and even myself simply don’t have time for complicated recipes. This one is my go-to when life is busy and I need a quick breakfast or snack option. Simply mix your ingredients, pop it in the microwave, and voila! Your high-protein mug cake is ready to be devoured.

Recipe Notes & Modifications:

  • You need a mug that is at LEAST 16 oz. Otherwise the cake will overflow (it rises quite a bit as it cooks). You can also use a microwave safe baking dish/bowl.
  • Whey/casein protein powder is recommended for its texture and flavor, I recommend the Select One PEScience brand, flavour Chocolate Truffle for this recipe.
  • The brand of maple syrup I use is Steve Maple Sugar Free Syrup. It tastes amazing!
  • If you don’t have oat flour, you can easily make it by blending rolled oats in a food processor or high-powered blender until they reach a flour-like consistency.
  • Options like Stevia, Monk fruit, or Erythritol work well in this recipe. Adjust to taste based on your preference for sweetness.
  • Any plant-based milk or regular milk can be used as a substitute for unsweetened almond milk. Just be aware that this might change the overall calorie count slightly.
  • I like microwaving for 75 seconds and having a slightly gooey center. Adjust cook times based on personal preference!

This Protein-Packed Chocolate Chip Mug Cake is a game-changer for anyone looking to enjoy a sweet treat while hitting your goals. It’s high in protein, deliciously rich, and incredibly quick to make. Perfect for a post-workout snack, a quick breakfast, or a healthy dessert, this mug cake is sure to become a staple in your recipe repertoire.
